In addition to providing instrument resources for researchers at Member Institutions, NYSBC also is home to three structural biology research laboratories.

The Membrane Protein Laboratory is the home base for the New York Consortium on Membrane Protein Structure (NYCOMPS), led by Wayne Hendrickson of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Columbia University. This consortium is part of the National Institutes of Health Protein Structure Initiative.
